How do you pick the right fitness program for you?

You, or someone you know, is about to get serious about their fitness.  The mission is going to be to find a gym or hire a personal trainer.

How do you know you're picking the right program for you and not just hopping into another fitness fad?

Is the program going to fit your goals?

How long have they been around?

What's their process to evaluate you and keep you safe?

Is Johnny (the construction guy) just teaching some fitness in his spare time?
